IFAA World Field Archery Championship 2024
Brazil – 10-14th August 2024 Firstly, apologizes for the lateness of this report. As some of our club members will know we had two Mt Tiger Archers competing in the World Championships in Brazil. A good step away from New Zealand and plenty of different weather conditions to deal with not to mention a long flight to get there and get settled. The Championship consists of 5 days of shooting being Day 1 – Field Day 2 – Hunter Day 3 – Animal Day 4 – Field Day 5 – Hunter Good exercise it equates to 112 arrows per round with the exception of the Animal targets which is best case scenario 28 arrows or if you use 2 arrows 56 or if you have to use 3 arrows 84 arrows – now multiply that out for how much weight is pulled for each round. Quite an impressive performance by the archers that attended. Lois Howe shot the SFFU (Senior Female Freestyle Unlimited – all the gear) and won Gold for New Zealand as well as being place 3rd in the Style Events and 3rd place in the Champion of Champions team – Well done Lois well deserved. I believe Lois has now set New Zealand records for that division in Field, Hunter & Animal – still to be ratified by the NZFAA Registrar. Ethan Russ shot the AMBU (Adult Male Bowhunter Unlimited – pins and release aid) and ended up 4th in his division – 3rd place in the Style Events and 3rd place in the Champion of Champions. New Zealand had approximately 25 archers participating and we did manage quite a medal collect For full results see WFAC 2024 on google and full listing of results and competitors is there to read and peruse at your leisure. For our club this is an awesome result and Lois and Ethan – congratulations to you both. So if you wish to join archery we have Monday & Wednesday nights at the Whangarei Girls High School
